Active Isolated Stretching

is an active form of stretching. Typically, people tend to stretch in
a static position-they hold there stretch for a certain time, typically
anywhere from 20 seconds to 1 minute. With AIS, the stretch is typically
help for 2 seconds and is repeated a number of times. What sets AIS
apart for the typical static stretching is that by actively repeating
a stretch you can help increase the blood flow as well as nutrition
to the muscle being stretched.
